is it possible??? well stupid question because any engine is possible, but what would need doing to fit it??? my friend has one for sale and id love it but not sure how it would slam in to pedros bay... and im talking 2wd instead of 4 as i dont think id manage to make a 4x4 minor...

as you say it will fit.
biggest problem i can see is getting rid of all that heat!!! mounting intercoolers etc.

Essentially it is the same engine (size wise) as a 2.0l Pinto. but it is the ancilliaries that will be the challenge.....

damn, my friend said to me you wouldnt happen to know anyone that wants a cossy engine at 80,000 miles and i thought to myself i wonder if it would go in my minor... now im really considering, would be a lovely engine swap...

but the cossy engine is alot different from the pinto so would i still get the same problems spoken about on that thread???

The YB cossy engine is based on the Pinto block so yes the same problems plus where to mount the turbo, intercooler etc. Heat is a major issue. I put a coosie lump in a Mk1 Escort a few years back and had a hell of a problem cooling it enough.....

cosworths are big and heavy why dont you go for a zetec a lot lighter and cheaper to tune

You could mount the intercooler on top of the engine, same as an old Imprezza and have a bonnet scoop to feed air straight on to it. Or you could put one in the boot and have finns on the boot lid to get air onto it? It is quite a heavy engine to be fair but would look soooo cool under a Moggys bonnet. It has been done already as has been said on Trudys morris 4x4.

but on the trudys minor its been like semi space framed making the engine bay possibly bigger, and would the weight be such a big problem if i have good suspension. Im really thinking this engine is a possibility, i could mount the intercooler like jono did on his grey minor sort of comes down and mounted where the number plate is, i did have a picture but cant find it. And like what ratrodmog said i can use scoops too, i could put some bonnet louvres on just to get rid of the heat.

You can move radiator to the boot (plenty ducting) to make more room.

now obviously thats a zetec not a cossy but i thats how i thought id try and mount the intercooler and radiator, but with mine it will be extremly close to the front, so the engine is further forward which also means the gearbox wont be massivly far back. And then intercooler shall be hidden behind jlh front spoiler like this[frame][/frame]

You could do a complete chassis swap!! Like ford Capri Chassis then the coswoth engine would fit without any bother. Or if your keeping the morris engine bay standard then a fiesta rs turbo radiator and intercooler fits the width of the minor and the height is small enough so the bonnet can close

chassis swap doesnt sound very appealing will be too diffucult for suspension and stuff and thanks for the tip!!!

To hard!!! Your chopping and welding your Morris anyway! As for swaping the chassis, it's the complete floorpan all the suspension is on it all your doing is linning up the wheel centres and the other bits will fall into place

You could just buy a Sierra? the engine will fall into place, less agro, less stress and much more fun to drive as lets face it, you will have to do SO MUCH work to a morris to get this to fit and drive any sence (rear axle and suspension upgrade, propshaft made, gearbox mounts, engine mounts, the steering rack is bound to cause problems, front suspension upgrade, cooling, serious brake upgrade, the list goes on, not to mention cost), and all you end up with, is a morris with to much power for the type of car. Sorry to put a downer on things. A ford sierra would be my choice to use the engine in, but if you can get this to work, then i wish you the best of luck

I'm sorry but he would look silly at the nationals in ford sierra!! There's a copy of minor monthly with a cosworth powered Morris in it. That car has struts on the front and 5 link rear suspension ok it's non turbo but he's fitted it and kept most of the Morris floorpan
