ADMITEDLY MY CAR DID SIT FOR 27 YEARS BEFORE I GOT HER AND STARTED WORKING ON HER (IT ONLY COST £36 INCLUDING PETROL TO GET HER RUNNING AND DRIVING)
BUT WHEN I PRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL THE BRAKE GOES DOWN TOO AND VICE VERSA
SHE STILL DRIVES BUT IT DOES CAUSE IT TO STALL
UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR IS NOT ON A HARD STANDING AT THE MOMENT SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO JACK IT UP AND LOOK UNDERNEATH
AND IN TRUTH IM A COMPLETE NOVICE AT THIS WITH THIS BEING MY FIRST PROJECT
ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO THE CAUSE OF THIS AND A POSSIBLE FIX WOULD BE GREATLY WELCOMED.
THANKS

Re: CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEMS
The clutch and brake pedals are on the same shaft which runs through the chassis, the brake pedal swivels on the outside of the shaft. Remove the gearbox floor pan, if you can unscrew the brass set screws, and apply plenty of easing oil to the shaft. A bit of gentle persuasion with a hammer around the brake pedal shaft may help.
You are probably going to have to replace the brake master cylinder which is also located in the chassis leg.
You are going to need a proper BMC workshop manual.
