Period number plates
I am having a little difficulty in providing my Morris Minor with the correct period number plates, white plastic lettering/numbers on a black background, character height 3and1/8th inch or 79mm (DVLA: correct for vehicles manufactured between 1963 and 1973). I can find a plate maker which will supply ready made plates but the cost is excessive, is there anyone who knows where I can purchase the individual numbers and letters (I have my own metal plates for mounting) in the correct size and style? All the dimensions for these plates are readily available, just need the digits! Thanks

The individual digits are readily available at autojumbles - the monthly mega jumble at Newark Showground always has these.

Re: Period number plates
If you want the individual numbers, then I suspect its an autojumble search. Often stalls there with boxes full and hours of fun rumaging through to find theres no letter G or whatever! Not sure if the plate manufacturers would sellseparate digits.
I went down that route for one of the Land Rovers to make a special sized plate for the front wing to miss the extra indicator... Quite satisfying, and cheap!

Re: Period number plates
Thanks for taking the time to reply, Nottinghamshire is a bit far to go (I'm near Monmouth), thanks 'Psl 184', your suggestion looks good, its more than £10 cheaper for a pair of plates than I have found to date and pricing up the cost of steel backing plates plus the individual numbers & the time required,I will probably go down the route of getting them made up. I doubt the plate makers would sell the letters/numbers seperately - it would be against their own interests, but there must be someone manufacturing them! Sam

I got mine from vintage plates. I think it was £30 ish for the pair with the raised plastic letters.
