Brake Lights

Hello

My brake lights don't come on until the pedal is pushed right down to the end of it's travel, which I don't always need to do to slow down or stop. Am I right in thinking I can just adjust the pressure switch. Can someone explain where and how I do this, please. I saw brake lights have recently been discussed but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Just had the same issue with my '69 Traveller. I was worried that some twit in a modern whatsit would run into the back of me - changed the pressure switch yesterday (about £8) and the lights now come on before the brakes begin to bite. I suppose after 40+ years the old one was a bit slow to react! Bit truicky getting the old switch out - I packed a piece of wood between the union and the front panel (moved the ventilation hose out of the way) so I could get some purchase on the switch without bending the brake pipes and used a socket on an extension - came undone OK after an application of Plus Gas. Filled the new switch with brake fluid so as not to introduce any bubbles and it all went fine.

Dear Moggie Tom - Just noticed you're in Leicestershire - so am I so if you need a hand please let me know and we can arrange for you to pop over before the special little block of wood I made to wedge the union gets tidied up into the rubbish bin!
Cheers,
Bob
