948/1098 swap, which carb?
Posted: Fri Dec 03, 2010 8:54 am
I am helping my friend put a 1098 (10cc) engine in her '59 LCV. It will be a simple replacement keeping all the rest of the stock bits. She can get the 1098 for less than the cost of a re-ring of the 948.
Will the 1098 be happy with the 948 carb? If not what are the the differences between the carbs, just the needle?
We are in the US, so we don't have ready or reasonable access to later model A series parts, except via ebay, etc.
The value of our dollar sux worse than our government right now.
With the exchange rate and shipping, our cost can easily be triple what the selling price is.
I am putting a 1275 in my '58 Traveller, and I would prefer to run a single carb, but the cost of sourceing a carb, manifold, etc. from your side of the pond is not feasible for me right now, so I will freshen and use the twin Midget setup I already have.
Thanks, everyone, for all your assistance, and a Happy Christmas to ALL!
