Hi all

Just got myself a Traveller but need to tuch up some bits. How can I find out what the colour is or the paint code.

Anyone know what the colour is?

Almond green by the looks of it. colour code should be on bulkhead at rear of engine bay.

I would say Almond Green too

that’s what I thought but I sprayed a bit of almond green at the base of the drivers door and it was much lighter. The paint in the spray tin is a bit old but I did shake it up thoroughly.

How thoroughly? even a new can needs shaking for a couple of minutes which feels like ages .

Having said that I think there are at least two shades, and the sun takes it's toll, just a lot less than from a red car.

I've found that immersing the spray can in hot water for a while helps and then shaking it for at least 2 minutes.

As already said, paint can fade or various 'non original' shades can get used. The best way to get a good match is to take a sample of the paint (eg glove box door) to a company which mixes up paint to order. I've tried various maroon B touch up paints and sprays and I've yet to find an exact match for what's on the car!

Just got some paint from Charles Ware in almond green, spent an age shaking and heating but it’s a lot lighter than the cars original colour.

What other greens were used that were similar that could have been use on a 1966 Traveller?

I knew there were two shades of trafalgar blue but not almond green. Your car may have been resprayed in a poorly matched colour. You can get a specialist paint supplier to match up your paint for you and they will even put it in aerosol cans, so I've been told. Otherwise you can have it in forty shades of green like O'Rafferty's motor car!

For example there is a shop called Nu Agane in Bedford who will mix paint and put it in an aerosol spray can.
