Axle refurbishment

Hi Guys,

I have a late 1098 type rear axle to refurbish. Is it possible or indeed practical to try to remove the hubs and brake plates with this off of the car.

I've tried to undo the hut nuts, without success. Does anyone have any tips, or would it be easier to clean and repaint the axle casing with the hubs etc attached?

Can't see the problem ? Blunt chisel and wee-heavy hammer........ They will be off in two blows......... LH thread on the LH side remember.
