what is the 'best' brand for morrie tyres?
million dollar question i know, but what are the pros and cons of the ones availiable?

i've got a saloon, and since i live in the sticks, i'm considering winter tyres - the roads aren't gritted (bonus!) but ive got some steep (ish) hills to negotiate 8 times a week (playgroup run!). since i've only had morrie since march... i dont want to loose her so soon (sob)

currently she is on, 145R 14 76S Michellin - mean anything to anyone?

They have not made Michelin tyres for Minors for years. Check the condition of the tyres and sidewalls for any signs of cracking and if they are not perfect then change them.
These days you can get Nankang and Toyo and one or two other brands in 145 and 155 x 14 sizes. My preference is 155s and inflate them to around 30psi. The pressures in the book are for cross plys

I have Nankang in 2 of 4 mine MM, they are good!

I doubt you will find any winter tyres - or Mud & Snow tyres - in the normal 145/155 X 14 sizes.

On the south coast ( new forest) it still gets pretty nippy but doesn't snow that often, would I be better of with Mud and snows or Winter tyres?

so does that mean that apart from the link above, i would need to get different rims for a set of winter tyres? (very thick day today, so please excuse silly questions!!)

I would make life much easier, and pay off after one season, unless you have your own tyre changing and balancing machine.

Roy will be along shortly to say they aren't needed, which is strictly true, it depends how much spare time you have, and what value you put on it.
