Hi Guys,
What is included in the conversion set gasket kit? In particular, what is the curved rubber lip seal? Is it a rear crankshaft seal?
I'm a bit miffed that it doesn't include the front and rear sump sealing strips.
Cheers
John

Sure you haven't got a Mini conversion set ? There is no 'crankshaft rear seal' on a Minor (or a Mini for that matter!). Sump seals are (surprisingly) in the sump gasket set!

B m c is right,In 50 years of twisting wrenches ,found with cork or rubber gaskets, glue or gasket seal on one side
nothing on t'other.A lot of times if you do both sides the gasket will squease out.
kenny happily retired.

The gasket set is a Payens EF075, listed as Austin 4 Cyl 1.0/1.1L A Series, Mini, Mini Cooper S. However, there still aren't the sump seals and an odd lip seal. I've now ordered a sump gasket set which has the seals.
I'm now drowning in A series gaskets!!
Cheers

John,
You seem to have bought a conversion set for the Mini (transverse) engine. The sump gasket is no good for the in-line A-Series engines (too thin material), and there is no rear sump seal round the main bearing cap - may be other details different as well.
A conversion set for the in-line engine will have all the gaskets and seals you will need for the bottem end of the engine, hence the name 'conversion' set, it converts a 'head' set into a full engine set, but most probably will have the cork end seals. The only way I have got the the rubber seals is to buy a separate sump gasket set, which often has both.

I bought a 1098 sump gasket set now which includes the cork end seals, I've not found any of the rubber type as yet.

John
