Vacuum tube routing and fixing

I'm sorting out some bits and pieces under the bonnet of my 6cwt van (rolling restoration!) and would like to know how to route the vacuum tube from the distributor to the carb. This is one of the metal types which screws onto the distributor. It comes with some brackets but I've no idea where to put them!

Here's a photo of mine. The metal repro tubes currently being sold are too short. I replaced the old one and it could have been that the old one was not fitted correctly. The extension is only a temporary solution.

Have you tested the vacuum unit in the dizzy - is it working ? Most only last ~ 20 years.....

Thanks for the tips and pics. I've not yet tested the vacuum unit, but will do so (have read previous posts on how to do this). I have the feeling that this isn't the original distributor anyway - it has the screw fixing and as I understand it the later models had a push on connection. The van is a 1970 model so this would seem to be inconsistent with its age.

Nice clean set-up Declan! I worked with a man once who used to service peoples cars on the side, if he came across one that had a dirty engine bay he walked away! He went up in my estimation that day!
