hi reading classic car mart..on reading a ad ametech engine restore oil.brings your engine to near new..does it work..or does any of these oil treatments work..i was going to give it a try.as my engine could do with a pick me up.well it is 60+lol

i tryed this when i got my traveller,my engine was tired and the oil pressure was 40ish so the main barings were going.it might work if the cylinder walls are waring,well thats the claim ,im in 2 minds not fully convinced .

Save your money. If the engine has done 60k it probably needs some attention, nothing a "magical" oil can cure.

Utter waste of money......

Probably cures baldness, and make you irresistible to women too .

Over here we call these chemicals Mouse Milk.

well as i mentioned my morris minor needed a pick me up.on tick over the green light was on..low oil presure.and the oil in the rocker box was poor.not a lot..on thinking i require a full rebuild or engine..on taking the oil releaf valve out.a quick clean of the bore and lightly rubbing the little piston with wet-dry paper..replacing it all..the green light goes off on tick over,oil is now plentiful in the rocker box..and no blue smoke emitted from the exhaust..which just showed its self one day..

i know its some time sice i came on here but i bought some amtech engine restore off ebay.as my 1961 morris minor is still as it was bought in 1961 with its 948cc engine.on tick over the green oil light was on.and smoked abit on start up and the engine sounded lumpy..taking off the rocker box filler cap,poring 250 mils of amtech in.started the car up...the green light was on..so i left it ticking over,had a cuppa and whent out,to look at the engine...steady as a rock.and wheres the green light?gone.so i turned the tick over down.till my dynamo light was bright still no green light,the engine was like a old dumper truck.so turning it back to normal.runs fine.and no blue smoke on start up.its not a thickner,just blue stuff.im going to experiment with it in my austin a35 and my discovery next...iv been told how to recon nackerd batteries for a few pence.will post if it works

The battery trick is well known - and works, for a little while.......like your magic repair fluid !

I wouldn't hold out any hopes on getting any sort of lasting effect!

Someone in our local branch tried this "restore" stuff on their near daily use Minor. It worked, for about three weeks, then the oil burning and noise started again with a vengeance!

You cannot mend wear in an engine with a magic potion, cannot replace lost engine metal with a blue liquid!!! These "restore" people should be taken to court by trading standards!

It makes an excellent hair restorer and cures palsy, so I've heard.

Just add some banana skins to the gearbox - and a couple of handfuls of sawdust to the final drive - and the car will soon be right up to top standard!

If it would grow my hair back, I'd buy some!

Some of these magic cures will actually reduce engine life. Engine stop-leak stuff can contain fluids that damage the seals (making them swell up). The initial result may be less leaking but don't expect much more life out of the engine with damaged seals!

Hydrodynamic bearings rely on surface finish and toleraces, piston rings rely on bore cylindricity and surface finishes - as already mentioned a magic potion doesn't replace metal that is missing and that's what you need to make a worn engine healthy.

I've had good success on a tired A-series engine - the big ends and main bearings had big erosion pockets and the rocker shaft was more like a cam shaft. Replacing the bearings and the rocker shaft made a massive difference. If the crank is damaged and the bores are a mess, then it needs machining and rebulding but if it's not got that bad, replacing the worn parts can make a big improvement.
