Hi. About the only part I didn't replace when I restored my car was the strap which secures the rear seat to the parcel shelf and the other day it snapped. Had a look on ESM but couldn't find them there. Does anyone know a firm that stocks replacement straps?

I made mine from an old leather door pull I found around the place (I also made one from an old handbag handle but I made it too short then found the old door pull)if the fittings are ok reuse them or get new ones, they are used for convertable hoods

If you have an old Series MM carpet or maybe a later one, use the strap that secures the carpet in front of the handbrake which has a lift the dot fastener

Thanks. The clip is OK just the strap. So I guess I will have to fashion one myself from some vinyl.

Can you not use a piece of 1" webbing, or summit like that? Or is webbing too thick?
Thinking back, I think you can get thinner webbing, or similar at a fabric shop.

There's a strap? Where are we talking about, and which part of the rear seat? I can't tell from the pictures.

The base of my Mog's back seat ISN'T held in by anything (which is perhaps dangerous?). The top portion of the seat is held in by two slots on each side at the bottom, and a block of wood that passes through a metal clip on the back of the seat and holds it to the underside (in the boot) of the parcel shelf.

More mods?

This will stop rear seat falling forwards under heavy braking and the contents of the boot from coming into the rear of the passenger compartment.
I am not sure if it is on the non series MM's though

Here is my solution for the seat strap. I currently run 57 Birch Grey 4 door with red leather that's seen better days.

I had the same problem so after ruminating on a leather belt or strap for a handbag decided on.......

a small dog collar!

popped into my local pet emporium..... picked up a thin dog collar for £3.60.

Bought a leather hole punch for £3.75 from eBay.

Had a press the dot fastener in a draw from somewhere i can't remember.

Cut the metal loops off, turned over the collar to the underside as the leather was less shiny and new so blended in.

I was going to keep the pointed end to make it look more finished but first attempt at fitting fastener resulted in a cut too far so split the edge of one side, so to be sure I cut it off straight. I superglued the stitching that was opened from cutting down to stop unravelling.

I may have another go at a slightly better effort again once the interior is completely refurbished sometime this year but at first glance i'm quite with it....[frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][frame][frame][/frame]

You can buy the lift the dot fasteners from morris suppliers. They come under the heading "convertible" as they're used for fastening the hood down to the bodywork. Hope this helps.
