You can raise it easily enough by moving the adjuster plate where the torsion bar meets the crossmember. If there is not enough adjustment there then move the torsion bar by a spline and it should raise the car by about 1 1/2" (if I remember correctly), then fine tune using the adjuster.
If you have a Haynes manual then have a look in there at setting the ride height. It's well covered.
Assuming of course that the 'sag' has not been caused by well worn or rotted suspension/body parts! But looking at your picture that's doubtful!

If your top bump stop rubbers are missing then it is an MOT
failure apart from allowing the suspension to move too much
which will quickly ruin your suspension bushes. When you fit
new ones I would advise liberally coating the wheel arch and
the bump stop metal plates with Waxoyl before bolting them
in position.

ello willie, just had another look ,seems to have patchs welded in, cant see any holes to attach bump stops, ill do that mate, but looks like ill still have to adjust torsion lever which im not looking forward to being a bit green with moggys,so wadya think then ,went over big hole on full lock with no bump stops, thats made it sag? cheers boys anymore info welcome

You could well have broken something I'm afraid. The upper
bump stops should be visible above the front tyres, directly
over the top swivel joints and they are attached by three bolts
which are visible inside the engine compartment on the inner wings.
They do tend to rot which is why I recommended the liberal use
of Waxoyl before bolting then together. Re the adjusting plate
on the centre cross member which CAM mentioned the series of
holes in this plate will raise/lower the ride height by 1/4" each time.

S RICHARDSON I must correct my error, the front upper
bump stops are held on with two bolts not three( in case you are
frantically searching for the 3rd one!!

rite lads the torsion lever is set on hihest hole in adjuster plate, the car has dropped approx 30mm,my dilemma is do i raise it as much as poss; on adj plate, put it back together and find its still low or move the lever one spline, hmmmmmmm p.s. i suppose it would make sense to renew any bushes too

hi
choose your bump stops carefully as some are very hard rubber,
try and source some originals ( i have some but not for sale) as the rubber is softer and is more protective.

That's a tough one! if it is in the highest hole then you have
plenty of 1/4" increments to use but will it be enough?? If you
go up one spline and it turns out to be too high you will not be able to lower by using the adjuster plate since it is on the lowest setting already!

DENNIS....re the 'hard' rubber, I have found the same troubles
with front engine mounts which appear to be solid(ruined the
smoothness of my engine) and the gear lever gaiters seem to
be very inflexible to me too. Have you a recommended supplier?

HI
I CAN NOT RECOMMEND ANY SUPPLIERS.
I BOUGHT QUITE A FEW OLD STOCK ENGINE MOUNTS, UPPER BUMP STOPS, LOWER BUMP STOPS AND REARS.
SORRY CAN NOT HELP THERE

The only way out of that one is to set it on the maximum adjust (on the plate) and check it. If you need more then move a spline. A pain, but heigh ho!

ello boys,im going for it this week, are tthe splines on the lever a few big ones or lots of little ones,i mean for ease of marking position, dont want to put it back together and need a step ladder to get in the door, anyway i can forsee a long face ,red in colour and oily finger prints on my keyboard, see ya soon boys and girls with an update, steve

I'd say
lots of little ones
It is STILL possible to muck it up even if you have marked it so do it carefully and visibly!! Oh and remember that copperslip removes marker pen!!!

On the subject of the front suspension, i replaced all my rubber bushes the other week, and found that with the ones where the torsion bar meets the wishbone, one of them was far more squashed up than the other, does this matter and how do i rectify it if so? Cheers,Ben.
