I am in need of a thingy that will drive pins home so they are totally flush. Preferably something that is magnetic or grips the pin - although that's not essential. For example, the traveller has felt window runners that sit in channels in the wood. The felt is secured with pins that have to be driven into the wood at a particular angle and so they are not left proud. A hammer would be too big and not accurate enough to prevent damaging the wood or channel.
I thought the tool I needed was a pin punch but they seem to be used to remove pins in brake pads for example.
Does anyone know what is the name of the thing I'm looking for?

Drill holes in your window channels just smaller than a countersunk screw head and drill smaller holes in the wood underneath the window channel holes you have drilled and fix these to the wood with countersunk screws. That is how the window channels were fixed in my Traveller! Using screws means the channels can be more easily removed when they need to be replaced.

I thought it was called a Needle Punch. I seem to remember buying a complete set once.

Or perhaps a David Cameron...

Mine were the same as chickenjohn's and I also replaced mine with small stainless screws, they need to be put in at a bit of an angle to make sure they clear the glass and are much easier to remove than pins.
As others have said a pin punch is the correct name needle punches are a smaller set a bit like needle files are to ordinary files.
