am i right to be annoyed

primrose failed her mot in september with spectacular results, so off to the garage for extensive welding.
that was over a month ago.
since then the welder has managed to get a face full of junk from the angle grinder and was in hospital for the evening with the loss of his sight (for the evening i stress, it wasnt permanent).
since then no progress on primrose at all.
now i know its being done as a cash transaction and he is almost a family friend, but the mere fact that its taking soooo ruddy long to get it done is annoying me intensely.

now i am not the most diplomatic person on the planet and i have a habit of really really annoying people at times, hence i haven't gone down and seen the chap, as it probably would result in a spanner to the noggin and despite lots of nagging to my father who keeps saying it will get done when he has a moment etc etc,
but dear god its annoying that i cannot simply go for a drive in primrose.
so, what do i do?
-wait for it to be done?
-take the car back and take it somewhere else?

anyway, rant over.

Family / friends and car repairs tend not to make good bed fellows in my experience. Better by far to have a professsional relationship with those waiting to take your cash.
They do it right, on time and at the cost and timescale agreed or you give them what for; failing that you take it away and give it to someone who can.
This whole "doing it as a favour" thing does not work - bite the bullet and pay a professional or better still - as already mentioned - learn to weld. It will pay dividends in the future and you are not dependant on others. I can highly recommend the Clarke 151 te (Machine Mart) :) .

Either go on a restoration course and learn how to restore the car yourself or take it to a proper restoration garage who know what they are doing, and get it done in a reasonable time!

Where has the car failed the MOT??? Pictures please!

There's a separate thread (with photo's) showing details of the MOT failure here: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=34901

Unless you're in my family / friends circle! I get a few thank you cards ;-)

I refuse to take money off friends for car/computer repairs, they always come around the next day with a bottle of whisky... they know me too well

Helping others out is great and I would advocate it, I would just say be careful -it can come back and bite you
