the last trafficators finished in 1961 so it will be before that.

Chassis number is on the left, it will start with MA2S3 then a number. A little thing to look for is if there are interior light switches inside the doors, fitted as of sept 58.

Hello Tom :D .

Have you got your license plate number?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/CARS/owning ... plates.jsp

If you find the last letter of the registration, that is, if it's the original number plate, then you can check what year it is by comparing the last letter with the list, for example my registration number has a 'H' at the end, which means it's a 1970 Morris Minor :) .

I hope this helps :P .

Hiya! Sorry but im afraid that won't work, the fact that the car has trafficators shows that it was built in or before 1961, the age-related registration suffix started in 1963, the chassis number certainly will tell you the year though.

hotrodder has bought a car off ebay, advertised as a 1970 with an H plate. The car is clearly earlier though due to the trafficators

That's a 1961 (pre August) chassis number. The registration number was issued on 02/01/70.

Is that chassis number actually stamped into the bulkhead - or just on the plate that is quite frankly easily moved from car to car! It is of course possible the car was re-imported from abroad - or liberated from the Military in 1970.

Mine was built on 30th May 1961, chassis number 910---, the last with trafficators was august, number 925--- i think! i dont have my book with me to check! so yours will have been built in June or July

If the bulkhead number matches the plate - and the V5 - it MUST have been registered in 1970 as an import or ex Military. So the problem now is just to avoid VOSA inspection if you do too many mods to the shell/change engine/gearbox/axle/suspension/brakes - they will (quite rightly!) say it is no longer a Morris Minor. There is a 'points' system - if you change too much there is high risk of Q reg and paying road tax. Gang warily. :o
