hi i own a 1968 traveller which has a oil filter warning light, can someone explain when the bulb should illuminate, for example should it light up when the ignition is switched on.

cheers Eric

It is a complete waste of space. It may come on if you don't change your oil filter for 30000 miles. If you have a canister oil filter conversion it will be disconnected. I use my light for the trailer indicator warning light, I connected the filter end of the cable to the appropriate terminal on the flasher unit

It only should come on when the oil filter becomes choked - as MP points out - this is highly unlikely unless the engine is horribly neglected. So it will normally NOT glow when the Ignition is first switched on - even if the filter is blocked - it will only glow when a pressure differential is created across the filter.

I use it for my reversing light.
