Restoration/rebuilds. Are they ever finished?

Hi Guys,
I don't know wether this is in the right place or not, but it's a general question/comment.
Are restoration/rebuilds ever really finished?
The more work I seem to do on my '56 Splitscreen, the further away it seems from getting finished. Paint and chasing rust seem to be a constant battle
Cheers
John

Yes! My Convertible was bare metal in July - on the road 30th August, and the Traveller was re-wooded/sprayed in 2007. We're working on the 2dr now

the trouble is you finish and then 15 years later you want to drop a bigger engine in

The Splitscreen is just going to be one of those cars i fear. I have the bigger engine to fit, indeed almost all of the required mechanical parts necessary for the build, however, I don't think I'm going to be able to retrim or sort out the paint work. Think it's going to be a 2 build car
Cheers

Well if you can't spray yourself there are many places who will do the final paint job if you do all the prep work. This does cut down the cost. As for the trim - you can make it yourself on a home sewing machine, or buy it second hand either from this site or Ebay. It's not difficult to fit. If you have any problems we're always here!

My 4 door is a rolling restoration, she's done approximately 8000 miles since being put back on the road about 18 months ago.
The worst interior trim that needs doing on the Splitscreen is to replace the headlining, as it has been completely removed and also to source a new heel board as the original one was broken when it was removed, not by me I hasten to add.
Regards
John

John these are the kind of things available from a scrap yard as they are too fiddly to remove. Keep an eye out for cars advertised as "parts only". Ser II do come up.

you never actually finish, theres always a little bit more, then you redo the bits you did in the first place thats what its all about fiddling about with this and that.
