Rear Window Misting

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section.
I live on the banks of the river Severn so our environment is damper than most. My Morris suffers badly from a fogged up rear screen and I cant afford the heated option. My first Minor had a cellophane panel which was stuck onto the glass and served quite well to keep it clear, does anyone know if it is still possible to purchase these? I have also seen a product called Rain X, has anyone tried this.

RainX is for use on the outside of the glass - it makes water bead off so can keep a screen clear (at speed) without the use of wipers. My RainX bottle came with a free anti-fog product by the same people but I found it didn't help at all so gave up on it.

Can't help with the cellophane panel though, but a clean glass surface doesn't fog as easily as a dirty one. I know that leaving a tiny bit of detergent on the glass helps prevent diving masks fogging (though I still rely on spit) so you could try that, I've also heard that rubbing glass with a cut potato is supposed to help but I've not tried it.

A lot of people swear by a drop of washing up liquid smeared very thinly over the screen...

The problem is that your car is WET inside - get it dry - and there will be no more fogging. Are the carpets wet ? Is there a pool of water under the rear seat ? The real answer (after ensuring a completely dry car) is good ventilation - and drive with the windows partly open !

The car is totally dry. As I pointed out in my original post I live next to a river. All cars suffer a bit around here, even the modern ones. The moisture in the air is the problem.

These cold mornings I put a fan heater in the car 15 minutes before I go out, no frost, no mist, warm steering wheel.
I guess that makes me a Southern softee!

As an experiment, clean the rear window and see if you can get cling film to stick to it.
I haven't tried it but the effect should be at least as good as a cellophane panel because it won't present a cold surface to the moist air.
It's cheap enough to experiment with, air bubbles might be unattractive but won't stop it working.

If it doesn't want to stick to a dry screen, try a bit of moisture.

Thats exactly what I was looking for. I have also tried polishing the screens with washing up liquid which helps enormously.
