Halogen headlight change

My car had halogen headlights when I bought it but recently one went very dim and the other has a habit of frosting up from the inside, as it will be used for my brother's wedding at the end of the week I thought I would change the headlights for some spares just so that they look even and pretty, these are standard sealed beams. I've found that the new sealed beam comes out very dim (as in headlights look like sidelights!), is there extra resistance in a halogen light wiring causing this or should the standard light work as normal?

No - must be a wiring fault - check the earths.

Check the bullet connectors as well. Although the bullets can be cleaned you cannot get inside the sleeves, they can rust inside so buy some new ones. Every poor connection will rob the lights of a little power.

I agree with Beero. Likely to be a corroded bullet connection

Sounds like no earth - so both filaments are illuminating very poorly as the power goes to one filament - and finds an 'earth' through the other filament.
