yes unless you want to make a front wheel drive moggy..

if you go with a capri axle you need a mk1 to keep it all inside the body work. a mk3 is about 2 inch too wide to fit under the standard body work if running mondeo steels which have the greatest offset that i could find. not sure about mk2 axles

Ford mk2 escort rear axle is what your after, rs2000 spec i believe has bigger drums on the back, but any should be fine for yours. They have varying diffs, so depending on what gearbox your having will effect ur diff choice, however any should be fine.

well i have a ford escort mk2 rear axle, i have a 3.54 rear diff, its quite low but i do have a marina 1300 engine and box. i have 14x7" rear wheels but had to widen the the arches about 1.5"[frame][/frame]

Nice looking wheels! And thats a very low ratio diff, whats the acceleration like? I'm going for a 4.11 diff so should be a rocket off the line (hopefully 100+bhp engine) but a 5 speed box.

well ive found a place in cheshire thanks the jlh ! whop can sell me all the bits, axel case, rs200 half shafts, 9inch capri drums and a 3.54 diff, is this diff suitable for my 1275 or should i try getting something high thanks tom, i might try get a 5 speed box if i can get a cheep conversion kit

what pcd are these axels so i can look for wheels

they will be 108mm so any ford or most pug alloys will fit but you will need to be careful with the offset..

what are you doing about the front wheels stud pattern? i seem to recall the disc brake kits that use ford discs do not have enough meat on them to have the studs moved out to 108mm.. but i could be mistaken..

well no they dont, ive already tryed that a long time ago but, either get a new hub machined or if it needs to happen maybe try an adaptor

the other option is to get marina hubs modified to the ford stud pattern.. there is a lot of meat on the hubs and the conversion was popular might be worth talking to jhl again about what he does for front hubs..

i was thinkin about asking him, my dads hotrod friend thinks he can make me sum new hubs, id just have to sort the disks out

Marina or Dolomite axle is the low cost option. Both plenty strong enough - and take MGF wheels to match Marina disc brake front hubs if fitted. Seems the obvious upgrade way to go to me!
RS2000 axles cost a fortune - because the Ford rally lads use them!

but i im gettin case, rs 2000 halfshafts, 8 inch drums, 3.9 diff, 2 wheels and a prop for 220 not to bad really

ital axles go for less than 30 quid..

if the prop is a custom prop shaft then the price is good because i seem to recall that alone will cost around 130.. if it is not a custom prop shaft then it is of little or no use to you..

im only getting it for the end to match to the diff, i will then get another one for the gearbox when i decide what im using, and i will eventurally be putting a zetec in so i dont think the ital could cope with how i will be driving

ask what it is without the prop shaft the ends are not expensive and are fairly standard.. check that out with the people doing your prop just in case it is some odd fitment.
