hi
i read somewhere on here about straight 40 oil being a good front suspension upgrade for the standard lever arm dampers and
as the oil in my dampers probably hasnt been changed in 39 years i thought id treat it to some fresh stuff
i went into halfords today and the only oil i could find was 0/40 motor oil...i didnt think this was the right stuff and at 14 quid a litre i thought id better ask
so where can i get some straight 40 oil from .....any ideas ????
thanks
neil

Well - not quite...... Tesco sell SAE 30 for lawn mowers - it's in a smallish bottle and doesn't cost a fortune. And this will work well in your dampers. If you want to go to SAE 40 you will probably need to go to a motorcycle place - but don't be fobbed off with 'fork oil' - you want straight SAE 40 engine oil - and as you correctly surmised - that is NOT 0W/40 or 5W/40 or 10W/40 etc etc. It's just '40'!
