A good alternative to a Minor?

Matter of opinion I think. For my first car I wanted a Morris Minor. My parents thought it was too old and insisted that I had an Austin, which was actually a year older than the Morris would have been. The hydroelastic suspension is "interesting"!

Nice little cars but harder to work on than a Minor and they rust very badly. Having said that, any 1100s still with us by now have either been well protected from new or had some restoration.

1100/1300s drive really well, like a big Mini and there were some nice versions like the Wolseley and Vanden Plas.

It is a much improved car over the Minor, the suspension/ride and road holding are truly amazing - BUT - the parts situation is not great for body or suspension and they do rust like mad......... I have to say - avoid - unless it's a car that has been kept indoors all it's life and only used on dry sundays.........

Plenty of leg room in the back. The VP version was well appointed and the grill suited the car, unlike the monstrosity grafted onto the front of the Allegro. It was also the best selling British car for several years before BMC, or whatever they called themselves on that day, lost the plot.

The reason for the question was that I saw one for sale in concourse condition, less than 40000 verified miles, £2500 ono. Wasn't quick enough off the mark; it sold immediately.

Sounds a good price for the car and they have an active owners club especially locally to me as I see them at quite a few events.
