I saw these mentioned on here a while back - Did anyone buy one or have any feedback on the quality of them at all?

Amazing value - and free postage. I think SimonBBC's are actually slightly cheaper (on ebay) - and probably from the same source.

ive just fitted one of simonbbc electronic ones in mine, with powermax rotar arm, quick postage, and the car is running much better and its not even been set up yet

I think I may risk one and see how they are.....

I wouldn't bother with the electronic one - points are fine !

on my old 71 Minor I bought the dizzy 45(simonbbc) with points and condenser the added the electronic ignition. to have back up.
It could be working better because your old dizzy was worn out.
Now Iam back to a 25d with points and condenser with my 61 minor (Positive earth). both ways work well as they are new

old one had a brand new electronic kit fitted can i just ask, when i set the dizzy up to run smooth its runs great but it fights the started to start the car, and when i set the dizzy up to start the car it dosnt like to run

any one what to do im getting it set up by sumeone else thursday night

The advance curve isn't right for your engine. Where did you get the dizzy ?

45d from simonbbc i got it started and running a bit better

Just been told that our local MG spares place have been selling these for a while and have sold over 1000 with only a couple of complaints so it looks like they seem to be fine, but you can always give them a call as they are helpful.

So - it looks like you need a bit more dynamic advance hotrodder! To get this - you need to open up the dizzy and see what number is stamped on the 'nose' of the plate that moves with the balance weigh. It may eg read '13' - which would give 26 degrees of dynamic advance. The general 'ideal' overall advance for a good A series is ~ 36 degrees advance - but 10 degrees static is too much for the starter. So - To get more dynamic advance - you could cut/file about 1/16" off the end of the 'nose' - then reassemble and try again. Of course if you get any pinking you would have to reduce the static advance slightly - you must NOT have pinking! If it still seems to GO better when you advance it (but get starter kick-back) then again take another 1/16" off the nose. Just go carefully - and don't take too much off. It's a trial and error process.

Hmmm, wouldn't it be easier to rescue the weights and bits out of the 25D that was in it before? Nobody ever throws anything like that away do they? If the 45D is a drop-in replacement for the 25D there's a good chance the parts will fit. I hate filing because there's no way to un-file

No - the 25D parts are very different.
