Ooo errrr missus I hear you say - Right thats that over with, on with the question.

As most of you know, SHY has been stood for over 2 years - give or take a bit - and will need her brakes bleeding when the new calipers are fitted (tomorrow)

I'm concerned that I'll snap the rear nipples off (like I did on the original front calipers) when I do the bleeding thing.... does anyone have any recomendations to avoid this problem ? Is there a trick ?

If we're lucky, this weekend will see our signature change from a car with bits missing parked at 45 degrees, to a whole car...flat on all 4's - fingers crossed everyone ?

Soak them with plus gas is about the only suggestion I can make, (plus wire brush any crud away so the PG can get in easier).

I'm assuming from what you are asking that the brakes don't need bleeding until you replace the calipers? If so can you clamp the hose flexibles and still change the calipers?, that will mean you will only need to bleed the fronts. It does make it more akward but should save a lot of hassle if you don't have to mess with the rears.

If the car's been stood for two years then odds on the wheel cylinders will need changing, rusted bores, perished rubber etc. If you're unsuccessful releasing the nipples and they shear off you'll need the new cylinders anyway.
A lot of people tighten them too much in the first place, only need a "nip" with a tapered seat.
