I owned a 1948 morris minor in my youth as did alot of kids my age in Victoria B.C. Canada. In a recent discussion with another former owner, the fuel pump failure came up. After swapping several lies about our youthfull escapades, I could not recall where the fuel pump was located. My friend said it was on under the hood(bonnet) and I think it was at the rear in the trunk. I do remember taking my mom's nail file to file the points in the pump as well as the distributor. Can you help settle this discussion? I do not want to have to pay for my friend's pint at the local pub!!!

Thankyou.

Sorry - You lose!
The fuel pump has always been bolted to the left side of the battery tray. If it was bolted antwhere else it would have been a DIY mod to try to overcome problems with fuel vapourisation caused by the fuel pipe passing close to the exhaust.
The Mini had the fuel pump on the rear subframe.

And are there any Minors in Victoria these days ? I attended a 'British Car Day' there a few years ago - lots of MGBs and some Minis and an immaculate maroon Morris 8E - but don't remember any Minors ??
