I am restoring a 1962 2 door saloon. There is a section which is in the shape of 1/4 of a circle and attaches at the top near the boot bulkhead and runs down to the cill. It is right angle in cross section each arm being about 2cm. It appears to be part of the attachment of the rear inner wing. I am unable to find it in the usual catalogues but the MOSS catalogue does show it on their exploded drawing for repair panels for the rear of the car. Shown as No 3 on the drawing it is not available from Moss.

Has anyone got any ideas about this part, I am sure BMC fitted it for a reason and as I am doing a full restoration would like to include it.

Hi the BMC part nomber is AAA 3216 or 3217 rear wheelarch connecting piece.

I havent seen this part listed and unless it comes fitted to another repair panel I suspect its not available???

So - what does everyone do - make one up from steel strip ?

As the bracket is not only a segment of a circle it is also a right angle in cross section, each arm being about 2cm it would be virtually impossible to make in the average workshop. very much a presses steel component.

Unfortunately this looks similar (except that it is a half circle and the part I need is a quarter circle) but is not the part.
It is used to repair the body where it joins the rear outer wing and corrosion has occurred on the body itself.

Found it at last.
It is attached to the rear inner wing and is used to attach the rear left and right trim panels and armrest with self tapping screws. Not being structural or loadbearing it will be easy enough to fabricate.
