Indicator warning light

The indicator warning light on the end of the steering column stalk suddenly stopped working the other day whilst driving (yes, I have tried a new bulb!). Otherwise, the external indicators are flashing normally.

Any ideas why this might have happened so suddenly - and how I might fix it?

Wire fallen off the flasher unit ? Or bad connections ? Or of course - failed flasher unit. Test by substitution.

I had the same problem driving back from the nat. rally. I stopped to check that the indicators were still working and carried on. Next day the warning light decided to work as normal.
