Juddering when Accelerating

When accelerating slowly my car is fine, when having to put my foot down a bit it starts to judder like it is in the wrong gear.

I presume the clutch needs adjusting? But any other suggestions before the morning when I can go tinker?

Checked all of the above, turns out the Engine Steady bar AND the Gearbox tension cable were slack... but it wasn't that!

It was the points gap

I had exactly the same-the points gap had closed up and it hesitated at low revs. I check it more often now.

Really threw me off this one, I was thinking the clutch or something mechanical rather than points

If it had been described as 'misfiring' rather than 'juddering' which suggests mechanical problems........

it did feel more like a 'judder' though... I love these technical terms

another one that can cause this is lack of oil or too much oil in the carb/dashpot or generally a messy carb. The piston in there can stick or bounce causing the car to stutter a lot.

remove the carb housing carefully with the piston, clean throughly and replace the oil on the dash pot when replacing the unit taking care not to overfill (this end up back inside the carb causing piston to get all sticky again) I found this worked wonders.
