The MMOC do run a Young Driver's Scheme with Footman James. To qualify for this you would have to join the club, and then quote your MMOC membership number when ringing footman James. They will not quote online for this Scheme. This caters for 17 year olds with a provisional licence up to age 25. As this is a special policy for Morris driver i don't think it would help you with a Mini. Get him a Morris - easy to work on a freely available cheap parts! :D

I thought Footman James ran similar schemes for other classic car types in unison with the appropriate club?

hey i am 20 just past my test and the best insurance i got was from footman and james by atleast 1500 cause most company put it through on normal schemes and most others wont insure a classic unless you have another vehical or you ar 25 which i think sometimes is very stupid

Doesn't seem like many miles to allow yourself? I don't know about you, but I use the Minor as my everyday car and in the last year I've done over 15k miles! Hence my policy is with unlimited mileage.

My insurance was a similar price for the first year, after one year it went down to approx. £450. Fingers crossed it will go down again this year.

Is it something to do with the fact that as a provisional licence holder (17years old) they don't expect you to be the same amount of mileage that someone who has passed their test and is commuting to work would do?

For my first year (17) I was on 4500 limited miles, I did just short of that, when renewing for the second year I asked how much more it would cost to get unlimited and they said 'nothing' and upgraded it!
