Hot switch

The lights switch (pull type) on my '62 Minor gets quite warm when I've had the lights on for 15-20 minutes. The lights work perfectly and are the standard ones. Is this normal? I don't remember it happening on my old '68 Minor.

I guess the contacts are a bit burnt and the extra resistance means it is warming up. You could fit relays for the lights before the switch contacts burn out. Don't know if you can get new replica switches but I am sure someone will come along in a moment to tell us.

The original switches are still available.
Check that the spade connectors are crimped firmly to the wires and are tight on the switch terminals

Best get it sorted as a few years ago mine filled the car interior with smoke! I think it wasn't far from catching fire!
Get it sorted pronto!

Many thanks. Just found a supplier for the switch - £20! Oh well, better than going up in smoke...

I would try spraying the one you have with WD40 and switching it on/off a dozen times. That may well fix it! It fixes the switches in my TR7 when they go a bit funny!
