yes it will fit.
The box should be a straight swap as it's nearly identical to a 1098 Minor gearbox.
The engine may need to be modified:
On later A series engines like Marina you need to replace the front plate with a minor one to get the same engine mount position. I had a Midget 1275 in a Minor but am not sure if the front plate was original or changed.
On some a-series 1275 there is a timing chest breather which will foul the fan. This can be slimmed down (made into a D-shape instead of round) to give good clearance to the fan.

where to break down next?

It's not an A series engine - or box. So - although it can be 'made' to fit (like almost any engine) - it's by no means easy!

Yes it should fit, have had a 1500 in mine before. May be slight issues with mounting position, to clear the steering rack. but the engine is short enough. Why not stick a dolly real axle on aswell, perfect width, can cope with more power, same pcd as marina front discs.

doh! I managed to read Midget, when It says Spitfire...
I know pretty much nothing about Spits, although I prefer their looks a little bit more than any other Triumph (I'm really not a fan of trumpers, but can't easily explain why I've felt that way ever since the 70's...)
