Well, I have finally brought my US Spec. 1967 Minor to Canada. There will be lots of work to be done before I'm happy with it but I'd like some advice from club members about suspension and other bushings.
I expect to be replacing all the suspension bushings as well as those for the clutch and brake shaft. I have seen it mentioned that not all polyurethane bushings are the same, with one supplier from Australia claiming that most are too hard. (He, of course, has "better" ones.) I wonder if polyurethane is even necessary as rubber seems to have done very well for 60 years. My main interest is to have the best and quietest ride.
What is the best to use please?

Re: Suspension Bushings, Rubber or Plastic?
The general opinion this side of the water is that poly bushes are better as they locate the suspension more precisely and give better handling as well as lasting longer. The only problem I have found is a tendancy to squeak so they need greasing when fitting. I think that they are available in different grades of hardness.

" rubber can " - quite a concept!
Contact Jon at JLH - he sells all manner of polybushes and will advise you which grade will suit your application best. Obviously there are 'hard' ones for competition/fast driving - and more compliant ones for normal road use. All are better than rubber - which these days don't often seem to last 10 minutes......... Jon may even give you a 'good deal' if you buy a complete set from him.
