Just to say a big thankyou to the members of the forum who pointed out that my car had been supplied with the wrong engine fitted. The garage (who supplied the car) have, to their credit, fitted a 1098cc engine without any question at all. Judging by the way it runs and the fresh coat of paint I have to wonder if it's a newly-reconditioned unit though the mechanic didn't warn me about going gentle on her. The car really does feel almost like new.

Glad it's been sorted to your satisfaction Bernard, you have a great example there (even if I say so myself!)
Did they fit a ribbed gearbox as well? It really should have one for the extra power of the 1098. Also did they refit the gauges and surround that I so lovingly made up?

Well done getting it sorted out - And yes - I hope they DID also supply the correct gearbox to go with that engine.
