Wife would like me to fit a smaller, sportier steering wheel to her '58 Tourer...
Do I need to fit an adapter boss? Having done that, do all/most wheels fit onto the boss? Will I need a puller?
There would not seem to be any involvement of the horn & indicator since this is mounted below the wheel & the indicator is not self cancelling
I am wondering on the best source for one..I have looked at the Moss catalogue, seems to be very expensive or are these prices normal?
I think that the original, spoked wheel is great, but who am I to argue?
Any help & advice greatly appreciated,
regards
Chris

Re: Smaller steering wheel
if you wish to fit an after market wheel you will need to get the appropriate boss for the wheel i.e. if you go for a mota lita wheel you will need the mota lita boss. You might be lucky and find that the wheel might fit a different boss but..
as for the boss luckly BL stuck to the same number of splines etc for a long time so I believe a mini boss will fit the minor .. Roy might wish to correct / confirm this as he nows more about minis than i do
have a look on ebay you can often get wheel and bosses together for a lot less than a new one.
as for removing the moggy wheel, you do not need a puller, just do not remove the nut completly and hit the steering wheel from behind, once it is loss then undo the nut all the way and remove the wheel. if you remove the nut all the way, when the wheel comes flying off it will probably hit you in the face!

Re: Smaller steering wheel
Be aware that the reason for the size of the wheel isn't fashion.
A bigger wheel gives you more leverage on the steering, making it lighter to operate.
Smaller wheel, less leverage, heavier steering.

Re: Smaller steering wheel
Oh dear, "can't you fit power steering?"
Even little hatchbacks have it now, and the wheel looks lovely and feels so much better.
