Timing chain rattle.

One of my winter projects will be to fix the rattle. I'm just putting together a shopping list of parts I will need. Standard 1098 engine, no frilly bits. I have a number of choices:

1. Replace like with like - simplex kit from Bully (and get an oil thrower from Mini Spares)
2. Upgrade to a duplex , again kit from Bully
3. Keep the Simplex and fit a timing chain tensioner.

Which is the preferred option? I realise there may be some differing opinions. :D

If I go for option 2 or 3 do I need a different timing chain cover?

And stupid question - do I need to drain the engine oil before removing the timing chain cover??

i would personally go for option 2, you dont need a new cover, you just need to coutersink the two bolts behind lower cog (two screws are supplied in the kits usually),

even a duplex chain will soon rattle if you don't fit the mini tensioner and front cover....
