What does this button do?

I found the remains of a button/switch under the parcel shelf of my 1961 saloon, it was never actually attached to anything when I bought the car. Looking in Ray Newells book there seems to be one in the same place on the 61 saloon pictured so what is it?[frame]Image[/frame]

Is it something to do with the heater?

Yes its to do with the fresh air heater. Does your car have the black cowling thing going down to the floor from the heater still fitted? It has a flap inside and thats what the cable for.

Hi

It controls the fresh air flap on the heater - the spindle and lever it attaches to is located close to the bulkhead floor.

On later cars the fresh air duct is higher up and runs right through the engine bay to the radiator support panel. The other end connects to the later type of heater.

Yep I've got the style with the black cowling going to the floor, I'll take a look at it tomorrow then.
Thanks :D

I thought it was the button that operated the floor flaps so your feet could touch the road for when that extra power was needed :D
