Re: MM block on ebay
It claims to be 1948 - 50 but cannot identify from the photos if it is early block or late block. Maybe useful source for crank and flywheel. I wonder what the rebore is?

Re: MM block on ebay
I've got a '49 non-waterpump block and it has a small boss cast into it where you 'could' mount an oil filter. Just wondering if this block is Series E? My Series E is identical to this engine in that area.

Re: MM block on ebay
It turned out to be a Morris 8 block.
The clues were:- Oil filler pipe below where Minor dynamo would fit
No counterbalance webs on the crankshaft
No well in the bottom of the sump for the oil pickup
Different sump plug
Can anyone identify which Morris 8 it comes from?

Re: MM block on ebay
95% sure it it series E. Early engines used oil pumps like Austin 7 that didn't have that large shroud round the lower half of the pump body. The have a short probe hanging out of the base. I can't recall any other differences. I'll try and post a series E pic (from the bottom of the garden) a bit later.
