Gearbox

Advice please.

Have 1098 engine and gearbox in 69 Minor.

First, reverse and top gears ok.

Can engage second but need to hold gear lever in position otherwise just grates.

Can't get into third?

Any ideas?

Something serious! Just fit another box - and then investigate that one - but I doubt it will be economic to repair it.

John Evans (02392-465256) does exchange reconditioned gearboxes for the 1098cc at 315GBP. There is a bit of a waiting list at the moment but you do get a guarantee and it's a pleasure to deal with him. Or post an ad here in the wanted section for a good box. I was offered several gearboxes through our Moggy club and I got one for free and sent it to John for reconditioning. Ebay is another option but there's always a risk involved.
