Boot Lids

Tuesday, I fitted the bootlid that came with my car when purchased, however there seems to be a problem with the boot latch, or rather the holes where said latch screws to the boot. They appear to be a little higher up then the previous boot, resulting in the boot being very difficult to close and the handle somewhat stiff.
It is definately a minor 1000 boot as it has all the holes for the minor and the 1000 badge rather than the older boot which has holes for a morris mascot.

I am wondering if this is because perhaps the boot is a pattern one hence things aint where they should be or maybe there is a difference between early and late 1000s.

Also had to take the boot seal rubber off the lid as it was impossible to close it with it in place.

Pattern part would be my guess.
Anyway, if there isn't enough adjustment adjust the holes in the boot lid with a file or something until it works properly.
Don't forget to paint the resulting bare metal!

You can use masking tape over the hole to judge how much and in what direction the adjustments need to be.
When it goes straight into the hole without rubbing on any side you should have a boot the closes beautifully.

Thats just it Marky my boot lid fits quite neatly even gap all round, fit the boot rubber and it will not close.
I'm not sure how to fettle the holes as they are threaded in order to recieve the screws that hold the mechanism to the boot lid.

Fettle the holes in the mechanism then, it will just make it more adjustable.
Put some masking tape across the hole then tap it with the boot lid, the mark the pin leaves will give you an idea how far out it is.
As it will close with the application of brute force I'm thinking it isn't THAT for out, if it is I'm out of ideas, sorry.
Oh! another idea, what movement is available from the hinges?

No movement at the hinges, I will look at the pin area tomorrow maybe there is some movement available there.
