gday folks any recommendations on which sat nav to buy and where from ,Coming to London 14 days time & being loaned a vehicle by brother-in-law ,and as compensation for his trouble would like to install one . cheers

Actually fitting a car with sat nav is likely to be very expensive.
stand alone units that you can use in a car are around the £100 mark.

I'm a fan of Tomtom but if you are used to another system buy that.

I am very pleased with my Garmin 250W with European maps as well, can't fault it.

I much prefer a road atlas and a set of O.S. 50000 maps for local driving

I use a Garmin nuvi, it does the job nicely.

Good plan, there will be plenty of other stuff to occupy your attention without trying to learn new software "on the fly".

A bit of a late entry here, but aside from a selection of paper maps and a good co-pilot, I use a Navigon 4350 which is mainly used in my daily driver (Saab Convertible ) for the 'safety' camera database but has also seen service in the Minor, it came with two years free updates for mapping and cameras from good ole 'alfords.

My wife does not like it in the Morris as it looks utterly anachronistic, such a shame no-one makes a retro-style satnav (big chrome knobs, grainy black&white screen and a frightfully-british 'chep' giving the instructions......) for us classic car types!

You don't have to stick it on the windscreen, just somewhere you can see it easily, and it can get a fix.

I actually like the anachronism of having gadgets in a Minor.
