Morris Minor Owners Club

I have seen a little minor in a nearby garden, I'm pretty sure it's been there for over 10years and hasn't moved. I was considering buying it for a restoration project (not for myself but afor an enthusiastic other half) but have no idea how much to offer for it.

From the reg I've gathered it's a 1060's, 948cc petrol engine. There's obvioulsy some rust etc. As far as the interior goes there a bit of mould on some of the seats & the panelling looks pretty shrivelled & grotty. I don't know if it runs, and only managed to get a peak at the engine because the bonnet have been left open.

I know it's impossible to assess it accurately from a few pics but any clues where I should start on an offer, or more importantly what not to go over!!

well i guess not worth paying more than scrap value really

many cars like this are not worth a lot

I would approach the owners and ask if they are looking to get rid of it and offer to take it off their hands for a nominal fee.
IMHO from those pictures the car is worth scrap value, perhaps a little more if broken but I doubt the parts would really be of a saleable state.

I know our local scrap yards say they'll pick up a scrappy and pay you £150 for it. Not sure what your local ones will offer. Depends how attached they are to the car, you could say "I'll take it off your hands for nothing in view of restoring it", and see how they react. They might not be that bothered and will suddenly think it's worth a fortune when in fact in that condition it isn't. I'd knock on the door and leave your name and number with them and the offer to just take it away, give them time to stew on it, but request out of courtesy first refusal. Try and get someone from your local moggy club to take a look at it with you, a club member will give a different synopsis to a current trained mechanic who works in the local garage.

It is definately approaching "free" teritory.....

This will need a HUGE amount of time and money spending on it. I wouldn't touch it with a long pole - but if you must - no more than £50 - and preferably FREE with a promise of getting taken out for an afternoon run in it when it's back on the road.....
