hi iv had a leak from my by-pass hose its a 948cc engine.it not the rubber hose,its the metal tube thats rotten off..i have a 1098 cc head will that fit??or what is the difference..the botton half of the 948cc engine is fine..but i have a 1098cc complete but i know nothing about the state of the engine

It's a MUCH better head - but to use it on that engine you need to get 60 thou (0.060") skimmed off the face. Your engine will run all the better for it!

hi thank you.as iv got a complete 1098 engine.and also been offerd a 1098cc last night..i did not want to change the morris to a 1098cc.as iv got a austin a35 with the 1098cc in her..

Well - just skim that head and use it - even better if you also slip the camshaft from the 1098 into the 948 engine. You will then have a nice smooth engine - with very nearly the same power as the 1098 - but at 10% higher revs of course.

well iv been in touch with the guy with the 1098 engine i have fixed his petrol saw as it would not go.plus his other petrol saw.so he told me the engine i can have for free..so ill do what you have told me..its a 68 engine but been stood for over 10 years..so it may work thank you

I assume your Q is - 'will a 948 run ok with a 1098 head (skimmed 60 thou) - but still retaining the old 948 camshaft'.
Answer is - yes of course - but it will be MUCH better if you can find/fit a 1098 camshaft.
