hi guys
probably been asked before but im new to this
i have just brought a new exhaust for my 1963 ..... 2 door saloon
the exhaust is massive and in 1 piece
my question is can i fit it by myself with the car on its wheels with no ramp ??????

You will need to jack it up at the passenger side - and let the rear wheel dangle - so you can work the exhaust over the axle. It's not difficult - just make sure the car doesn't fall on you.

best to remove the rear wheel ????

Better still, buy the two or three piece stainless exhausts available from virtually all suppliers. They last longer and are far easier to fit

As you've now got your one-piece, don't dispair - as stated above, still possible with the car raised. You need to jack it up as high as possible on the left hand side and then support it using axle stands (safety is paramount). The rear wheel removed gives better access. You might need to reposition the stand during the fitting. Be sure that your cross member nad sills are sound before using the jack!

Support the silencer on a jack then raise it and check that the front pipe is perfectly lined up on the manifold before fitting the clamp

I don't suppose it's strictly necessary to take the wheels off - but it will make life a bit easier if you can see what's stopping the %&$£ pipe from going over the axle!

on my way to work this morning in the moggie i lost most of my brake fluid out of the n/s/f cylinder but managed to get to a general garage opposite where i work and they fitted me a new one but also said if i go back next week they will
for free fit the exhaust

How are you transporting this one piece exhaust as it won't fit in a Minor and you won't be allowed on the bus.

the spares shop who have ordered the exhaust CES of shrewsbury
is right next door to where i work but also opposite the garage who is fitting it
so just a little walk across the road at lunch time and its delivered
happy { and quiet } days to come

I hope when the wheel cylinder leaked - you also fitted a new set of shoes....... Shoes soaked in brake fluid don't work very well!

I hope it fits in the mog, I'm picking one up on Saturday that I managed to win on eBay for a tenner.

I'll put the back seats down and push it all the way through. Might have a bit hanging out the boot though!
