I would like to replace the window seals on my 1954 splitscreen.
Before I order the rubbers can someone advise if it is easy to replace them.
Does anyone have any advice on how to replace as it looks like they are the originals.

Hello Ewan the side rubbers (2 door) and the rear rubber are reasonably easy to string in as per normal with a decent gauge string and some lubricant, its the front that posses the problems on the splitscreen. The fact that its is two pieces of glass means they can flap like a butterflies wings even with the centre bar in place to stop the screens moving towards each other. It has always been a tricky job (and i'm used to fitting screens) i was once told by an old (he was old) windscreen fitter that they always saw them as a bum job when they arose and prefered the single piece screen.
My advice from experience is allow loads of time put the centre bar in place get the seal around your screens with plenty of lubricant put the string it in its lip. If i recall (its been a few years now) string inside the car with your assistant appling some pressure from outside the car, but not too much pressure remember never force anything with toughened glass! the screens always seem to be very tight in the aperture especially the corners but with plenty of time and cups of tea, don't force anything the seal rips dead easy they do go in! Remember after the joys of fitting the screen you have the added fun of fitting the chrome strip joy of joy i hope i can do another one soon (not) good luck Ade p.s.don't forget some sealant after as they are known for leaking.
