just got myself a new clutch pedal/shaft and bronze bushes from bull motif and it all goes together with brake pedal fine when loose on the bench but the bushes that go in the chassis are a very tight fit and i just can't get them in, is there any special technique to get these in?
and yes i have knocked the old bushes out

also i need to get a new nut for the top trunnion pin, the one that clamps the bushes together, anyone know the thread size

leave the bushes in oil overnight first

then use a socket or drift just the right size and knock in squarely

must admit i have never had a problem getting them in

If they are oilite bushes, and I think they are, after soaking overnight in oil you might do better to draw them in using a nut, bolt and a couple of washers, as they can be quite brittle. Make sure there are no burrs in the tube from removing the old bushes.

right, i,ll give them a soak and try the nut, bolt method, i asume emgine oil is what i need to soak in,
any ideas on the nut size?

I've just replaced them on my trav.
I used the bolt, nut and two large washers method as mentioned by Les.

basically take the bolt, add a body washer that is bigger then the bush, then the bush. put the bolt through the hole in the chassis leg, then the second large washer and the nut.

Tighten up the bolt and nut and it will pull the bush into the chassis rail.
Go slowly at first, ensuring the bush is going in straight. Th first one I did started to go in crooked, so I pulled it back out and started again.

Have you replaced the bushes in the brake pedal?

They are the same bush, and a bit easier to fit, as you've already got the pedal out.
The results are well worth the effort, nice smooth rattle free pedals.

Not sure about the nut size, I would just take the old one to an industrial fastener place and they should be able match it.
