I was wondering how much approximately a full respray would be. I bought my Morris on Saturday am unsure as to what is the approx costs that I should pay. Would it be between £800-£1200?

Much will depend on the state you hand it to the body shop in, the more prep they have to do the higher the cost but reckon on at least a grand for an all over blow over. for a top job you will be closer to the 2 grand mark.

Yep - easy enough to do - just do one panel at a time. Obviously - the roof is the hardest part!

If you do have a go yourself, please observe all the health and safety requirements of the paint you use.

I am thinking that once I have done the rusty bits I will need to respray too. Is it right that all the old paint has to be removed to prevent reactions in the new paint? - ie back to bare metal all over!

im getting mine done in a few weeks, ive bin told just to sand it all over, dnt need to go back to bare metal

so im paying him to fill, prime, and top then clear laquer all for 200 quid he paints lorrys for a living

For £200 that must be materials only if he is filling and priming as well, that sounds very much like a "mates rates" job, a favor as I can't imagine someone just charging £200 for days of work, prep and sanding etc. IS that for your bootlid or the whole car?

You don't need to go back to bare metal - but you do need to sand it all well and apply a good thick 'high build' primer to isolate the new paint from the old.

Probably a wet on wet isolator then primer then top coat no need to laquer on solid colour only on metallic maybe labour only {??

Yes that is a bargain, did you get it done? if so could you recommend? as i would like mine done. it just needs rubbing down a bit
and spraying no dents or rust. just want it all to be one colour as there are a few patches here and there.
