New member here. What is a HIF 44 carb? And where is the best place to get one?

It's a 1.75" (44mm) throat version of the Horizontal Integral Float SU(Skinners Union) carburetor! Ebay is your friend. What engine do you want it for ???

I exchanged my 1098 for a 1275 a few years ago.

But don't pay that price! They are not 'hard to find' as that seller would have you believe! If your 1275 engine is standard - and you don't plan to 'race' it - it will run fine on a 1.5" carb - HS4 or HIF38.

I only posted it so that the poster could see what one looked like as per the request.

Absolutely - but that one has ended up at a price far beyond what I would pay - but then - I'm a Scotsman! Last one I bought cost me £5 at an autojumble...... The older HS6 carb is the same size - and every bit as good performance wise - and twin sets of these often sell very cheaply on ebay.

I dont believe that for a moment being a scotsman has nothing to do with tightfistedness that's just a rumour spread by the sassenachs so I have to possibly assume you are one
