Not sure what to do, I saw an item, I bid I won then the bloke phoned me and was very abusive and said he wanted twice the winning price. His friend had listed the item for him and he did not care if he got bad feedback!!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SA:GB:1123

Not sure what to do now.

A man called J............. said that if it was not dipped and only painted it will be a pile of rust inside of 6 months. Anything acid dipped must be ecoated afterwards. So count your blessings young man...........So looks like a lucky escape. Thanks J wish you were still here.

But certainly - raise a 'case' against him on ebay - and leave extreme negative feedback.

Agreed report it to ebay, funny how the seller doesn't say he is selling on behalf of another.
If you look at his feedback, last time it didn't sell for the same price and his previous items seem to have been a variety of car's.

I have left negative feedback. The guy was quite rude on the phone, I hope others read the feedback. Also I have had a couple of P.M.s warning me about this guy, it would appear that he is not a very honest man and is fairly well known here.

if you feel like it, you are within your rights to take the seller to court. "Selling it on behalf of a mate" is a standard cop-out from the regular conmerchants on ebay and doesn't actually count for anything.

I know of a case personally where a Triumph Stag sold for much less than it was worth - the seller refused to honor the contract and in court they took expert advise on what the car was really worth so they could award damages.
First of all, someone had to explain to the judge what ebay is and what a 'reserve price' is, and that without one, there is no grounds for the seller to reject a selling price because he/she didn't like it.
Award:
e.g. car worth £10k, sold for £5k, therefore seller was told to pay the £5000 difference or honour the sale contract.

In the case of the tailgate, I doubt it'd be worth the effort to go to court, however it would give the seller a sharp reminder that he agreed to the T&C's of the sale.

I hope you used a credit card for this transaction.
If you buy your item with a credit card, and your transaction is more than £100, your money is protected under the terms of the Consumer Credit Act.
So no money for this deadbeat, and a flag may go up against his name.

It never got that far, in his words 'you must be f****** Joking if you f****** think i'm going to sell that f****** door for less than it cost me 10 years ago, no f****** chance mate no f****** chance..... and repeat and repeat... for about 5 minutes.

So no purchase was made, I refused to accept a cancellation and got an email to say that he now has to pay ebay fees.

I like Ebay less and less, just wish Amazon sold minor bits. :D

I agree, and eBay fees are becoming extorsionate! There's always eBid (only 3% commission!!!), very similar to eBay and beginning to get more popular. It's at http://uk.ebid.net/ and there are a few Minor related items there; http://uk.ebid.net/perl/main.cgi?mo=sea ... ck=&pcode= If enough of us here start using it then it can only get better. :D
