Is the rear axle on the van the same as saloon/traveller etc? Thanks, John

Do you mean the axle itself? Yes
Or the diff ratios?

Let's put the question another way. Will a Morris Minor van axle fit a Morris Minor saloon? Ignore diff ratios I'm thinking about mounting points for springs and shockers. Thanks, John

Yes, same axle casing but the van has additional bracketery that is bolted to the axle for the lower shock mounts.

As PSL184 says the axle casing is exactly the same.

What is different though:
The removable bolt on brackets that mount the shockers,
Theres no rubber block on an LCV either,
The Leaf Springs themselves they are physically thicker
amd the forward mount of the leaf spring is of a larger diametre on an LCV.
But the differences are all spring related so if you plan to use your existing springs that wont be an issue.

All depends on what ratio diff in your LCV axle but the Ratio for a 1098cc LCV is 4.55 which I believe is the same as a 948 saloon.

Ive actually put a 4.22 diff in my pickup out of a 1098 saloon.

Thanks Steve - I was wondering if it was possible to fit a van axle casing to a standard 1965 saloon. The reason is I cannot trace some vibration on the existing car, this is the ONLY thing I haven't replaced and there's a new van axle casing on ebay, regards, John

Found it

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Morris-Minor-Back ... 19be764738

Interesting to see what the diff ratios is. There should be some numbers stamped onto one of the webs on the diff casing. 9/44 for a Van or 9/38 for a saloon.

You should be able to bolt it straight in though.
